Design Elements to consider when planning your garden

There are certain key, fundamental design elements to consider when designing or enhancing your outdoor space. These fall into many categories, but some are fundamental structural elements, namely; walls, ceilings and floors.
Similar to your indoor space, an outdoor area should ideally feel like an extension of your home, and as such, will benefit from some thoughtful elements that add comfort, aesthetic coziness, and spatial balance.
Walls, also known as vertical gardening, can take many forms, but some of the simplest add visual interest by creating functional outdoor ‘rooms’, and a place for vegetation to grow, while also providing ongoing visual interest to your garden. I have included some photos of wonderful garden ideas by others along with a few from my own designs.
The concept of walls can include such features as trellises, privacy screens, fencing, plantings (trees and hedges), and even retaining walls. These features can create different zones in your garden that can define how the space is used, such as a dining or seating area, an outdoor kitchen or a reading nook, and how these spaces interact. They also can provide privacy and create new sight lines from these areas to add visual beauty to your outdoor experience.
Vertical gardening is an amazing way to liven even a small space to create the illusion of height while maximizing the efficiency of a space as well as its visual appeal. It can also be practical with the opportunity to grow edible plants for harvesting, or flowering vines for colour and scent. Even hanging baskets help to create this vertical dimension. #landscapedesign #landscapes #landscape #landscapedesigner #garden #gardendesign #gardendesigner #design #designer #designinspiration
